Tooth Extraction
Teeth often need to be removed when they’re so damaged or decayed that they can’t be saved with other dental treatments. Some people have extra teeth that need to come out to ensure the rest of their teeth stay properly aligned. A baby tooth that doesn’t fall out in time to let the permanent tooth grow in may need to be extracted. Impacted teeth are another common reason for extraction. Teeth become impacted when they get stuck in the bone or gum tissue, often because teeth are overcrowded or a tooth tilts rather than growing straight up. When impacted teeth are painful or pushing against other teeth in your mouth, it’s time to have them removed. Some extractions are simple, which means the tooth is above the gum and only needs to be loosened, then pulled out. But with an impacted tooth or a tooth that’s broken off at the gum line, dental surgery might be required. In certain cases, a three-dimensional radiographic
image, that is available in-house, will be required before the extraction procedure.
